Shure BRH440M-LC Dual-Sided Broadcast Headset, Less Cable

  • Sound quality is as good as it gets in this type of headset, also very comfortable for long sessions, but I don\'t understand unterminated cable...why on Earth would it not have XLR and TRS cable ends?
  • This is a great headset, very sturdy construction and the sound quality is exceptional. However, the sensitivity of this mic may be lower than what you\'re expecting. When speaking at a normal volume, with the mic properly positioned about 1/2\" from the corner of your mouth, the output is very low. With the gain turned up to max on both the  Steinberg UR22MKII 2-Channel USB Interface  and  Focusrite Scarlett Solo (2nd Gen) USB Audio Interface with Pro Tools | First  USB pre-amps, people could barely hear me on my webcast practice session. I had to hunt for the specs buried in a PDF on Shure\'s website which states the sensitivity is:\"(@ 1 kHz, open circuit voltage) -67.0 dBV/Pa* (0.45 minimum) *1 Pa - 94 dB SPL\"I think that would be fine if I was reporting at a loud outdoor event where i\'d be speaking more loudly, this would actually drown out the background noise better than a more sensitive mic. However for indoor use, this was way too low. I can\'t be shouting in my office whenever i need to do a recording.I switched this with the  Audio-Technica BPHS1 Broadcast Stereo Headset with Dynamic Boom Mic  which has a sensitivity of -57dB and it picks up my normal speaking volume perfectly. So, just consider your use case before buying this.
  • amazingly comfortable headset! NOT FLIMSYjust some notes about what it comes with in the box, since it is VERY hard to find that out anywhere-Books and such-Headset WITH boom mic POP filter (decent quality, no need to buy a different one)-detachable cable with UNTERMINATED ENDSThis means the ends are BARE WIRES, you will have to do one of two things:1. Buy the detachable cable from Shure or somewhere else that has the correct ends for your setup ($50+)2. Buy your own ends and get out your soldering ironI decided to buy my own ends and solder them onto the cable connectors, much cheaper solution. These headphones are sold this way, so AV techs are not forced to use a certain cable or plug with them, since some places may even hardwire these into a mixer board or something. No need to deduct a star for the unterminated ends, as they are designed and sold for Pro level users. would have been convenient for me personally to already have the XLR/3.5mm(or 1/4\") cable with it, but it wasn\'t too big of a deal to make that happen myself. What to buy for option 2:XLR male end (for the mic)3.5mm or 1/4\" male (for the headphones)
  • Feels cheap, the headpiece (across the top of your head) is uncomfortable for longer than 10 minutes, the thin plastic broke where the earpiece articulates. We bought 4 of these for our busy cardiac cath lab and two broke within the first two weeks of use. I\'ve used $250 aviation headsets that are WAY more comfortable.
  • Using this in a house of worship environment with an existing comms system. I bought the 4pin female XLR Cable separately and works like a charm. This headset is much clearer sounding than the other mics used in the system. The only downside is the one Can is a bit heavy on just the one side but you do get used to it pretty fast. The flip up mic to mute is the best feature of this headset. All headsets should include it!
  • This is a great sounding product over all. I cant say enough good things about the headset, It sounds like im having a face to faceconversation
  • Best single-sided headset for the money. I use it on my radio show.
  • This broadcast quality headset , lives up to the Shure Brand reputation, Outta the box and ready to talk !
