    • These headphones were my first experience with IR headphone tech. Out of the box, I noticed that the headphones were a bit out of date, still using that foam cover piece for the earpads you\'re used to finding on old headphones attached to your portable CD player. Once I got everything hooked up, I tossed them on the charger as they weren\'t powering on immediately. After an hour, I came to try them out, with high hopes. They still wouldn\'t power on. I checked that the battery was installed properly and tossed them back on the charger. After waking the next day, I tried again, with no luck. The power indicator light on the headphones wouldn\'t light up. I double checked EVERYTHING else to make sure that power was running to the transmitter and that when charging the headphones themselves, the charging indicator was lit before tossing them on the charger once more. After returning from work that night, I tried one last time, still facing the same issue. I filed for a return and refund but realized that I had tossed the original packaging, which the seller requires. Since most sellers are reasonable, I figured I would send it back in a well packaged cardboard box that I could get from work. After 2 days, I realized that the hassle wasn\'t worth it and swallowed the cost of the headphones, tossing them in my trash can to get a pair of SIMOLIO IR headphones. I\'m sure that when the product works, it works great, but I was unable to witness it.
    • This is the third time I\'ve purchased one of these Sony infrared headsets for watching TV in the last 25 years. I am hard of hearing and these have been a godsend. They are crystal clear with excellent sound and no interference at all. This latest model has been somewhat updated and I noticed that when I am wearing the headset and enter another room I get a momentary shush sound when it shuts off and it\'s lost the infrared beam. On the older previous two headsets that I had this did not happen and the headset was always silent which was much better. Aside from this complaint my only other wish is that the volume control would be somewhat louder. I tend to use them at the top of the volume and could use more volume.
    • I bought two of these infrared headsets to replace a radio frequency version that interferes with my hearing aids. I only connected one of the transmitters to the TV output but you can use any number of headsets since the infrared signal from the transmitter has a wide beam. The other transmitter just acts as a charging base for the headset. The construction quality is very good and the audio quality is better than the radio frequency headset - probably due to wider bandwidth of the IR signal. The volume control is a little hard to use but not a big problem. I would prefer over-the-ear cups for more comfort but these are acceptable.
    • The head phones are really good. Great sound! However, they came directly from Japan and everything is written in Japanese which I haven\'t a clue. So if you don\'t speak or read Japanese, these might not be the head phones for you. Fortunately, I already had one set. However, I can\'t read a serial number since I don\'t know Japanese so I can\'t register them even though it looks like a post card to send back to the company.
    • This is a replacement for the ones we purchased 5 yrs ago. They work well and worth the $$. I only gave them 3 stars because the directions, box and labels are not in English. It bothered me as these were for elderly parents. Does it not occur to anyone that there are seniors in this country that are not internet savvy or able to read a foreign language. Oh, they have money, but they are not the target consumer. Shame on Sony.
    • Bigger and bulkier and heavier than the older version. I liked the older version better but it’s not available. When I leave the reception area, with it in, I get really loud static!
    • I found that to eliminate static, the base of the headphones must be on the same plane as the headphones, as well as pointed in the direction of the headphones. I originally tried to set these up with the base on the floor, but the 3 foot difference between the floor and sofa was enough to cause substantial static. Additionally, there is static if the headphones get too close to a device that is using wifi.
    • These have made watching TV with my husband much more comfortable for both of us. He is hard of hearing and instead of the volume on the TV so high it\'s very distracting for me, I can listen at a comfortable volume and he can adjust the headphone volume to his liking. You have to have the receiver pretty much in direct line with the headphones to get the best sound and the battery life is long. They charge over night and are ready to go in the morning. Much quieter in the house now!
