Smartphone Video System for Tennis and Other Sports

  • I needed a device to mount my phone to a fence and record my hitting sessions and this was what Swing Vision recommended. Ultimately, it gets the job done (which is a pretty simple task honestly), but the quality of the product itself is incredibly subpar.I\'ve had three different issues that have occurred with this device:1) One of the first weeks after I bought it it managed to fall over while it was propped up and leaning against a wall (not mounted). The item is very topheavy, so one would think the product engineers would have accounted for an occasional topple over from short heights (2 ft). Unfortunately, they did not. I\'m not sure if it managed to fall in exactly the wrong spot, but the top piece that clamps down and applies pressure to the phone while mounted managed to break off in an almost perfect straight line right at the base. This meant I had no ability to mount my phone now. Fortunately, after a couple rounds of super glue I\'ve essentially managed to get the clamp back working at almost 100%, but am waiting anxiously for the day when my jerry-rigged clamp fails and my iPhone 12 takes a lovely 10 foot tumble to the concrete below.2) A few months later, the device took another tiny fall while being propped up against a chair. Yet again, one seemingly \"perfect\" fall later and the plastic knob attached to the nut that adjusts the angle of the camera mount snapped right off. Unfortunately, super glue couldn\'t fix this problem, so now every time I want to adjust the angle of the camera I need to whip out a wrench to loosen/tighten the nut in order to adjust the camera angle. Hilarious if you\'re my hitting partner and I whip out a wrench from my tennis bag? Yes. Hilarious if you\'re the person having to adjust the nut with a wrench every time an adjustment needs to be made? No.3) The most recent issue I\'ve had with the device is that the tightening function to raise and lower the height of the mount has seemingly stopped working on 2/3 parts. Luckily, the mount can extend to (probably) 20 feet, so I only need one rod to actually function in order to reach my desired height of ~10 feet. I\'m also 6 feet tall, so not sure how this problem would impact someone else who wasn\'t my size.Frankly, I\'d expect this out of a <$50 product, but for $120+?! No way! One would have to assume that a majority of the cost to consumers is due to the fisheye lens that comes with the mount, but even that is nothing spectacular (especially with smartphone camera capabilities being able to replicate this same effect these days). I can only hope that they\'ll begin to take this into consideration and either a) lower the price for the product to something more reasonable or b) take the undoubtedly insanely high margins they\'re making on the sale of this product and reinvest it back into higher quality parts that don\'t break with the slightest disturbance... it is designed as a product for sports after all.
  • Been using SwingVision for a long time and this has been my go-to device! My first time I used the SquidGrip but once I was convinced of the value I went in 100% and got this mount. The angle is so great, my matches look broadcast quality. Incredibly sturdy and easy to hang on both fences and indoor curtains!
  • The clamp for my iPhone 8 worked very well and I was confident it could survive a hit from a tennis ball. Used the wide angle lens and it produced good results by capturing the entire back court.
  • This is a really great device. Solid, well made, and easy to use. I’ve been able to use this to hang my phone from fences but also from curtains at the back of indoor courts to get good video of my hitting sessions. Great product and excellent customer service!
  • Solid, durable, and easy to use fence mount that holds my phone securely. Gives great broadcast-like viewing angles on tennis courts, allowing me to easily record and watch myself play.Pairs great with the SwingVision app!
  • Really impressed with this mount! Easy to set up on the back fence of a tennis court and stays firmly in place even with wind. It has helped me capture high quality video from matches.
